I was raised in western Wisconsin, the son of an insurance salesman and a librarian. Through them I gained a deep appreciationfor church, community responsibility, the love of learning - especially reading - and a delight in beauty.

I studied ancient history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, integrated liberal studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and pastoral theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

During the late '90's I pastored an Evangelical Free Church in Des Moines, Iowa and have been the preaching pastor of Trinity Church in Minot, North Dakota since 2002.
